SLSU Joins the Nation in Celebrating the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary
Southern Leyte State University-Sogod Campus officially joined the nationwide celebration of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with a flag raising ceremony and launching of activities on September 1, 2025 at the University Library Mini Theater. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.”
The program featured the message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. as part of the national observance, followed by an inspirational message from University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte. In his remarks, Dr. Duarte underscored the importance of accountability and fairness in public service. He urged everyone to embrace their responsibilities with sincerity, commitment, and discipline, reminding the community that every role contributes to the collective success of the University. He further emphasized that the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary is not merely a ceremonial occasion but a meaningful reminder of the true essence of public service—building a stronger institution and a better nation together.
The month-long calendar of activities was also presented, featuring wellness programs, outreach initiatives, and community-centered events such as fun dance exercises, a medical mission, tree-growing, coastal clean-up, family day, and the Gandilan Awarding Ceremony.
As part of the launch, the University recognized exemplary employees and offices through the Giving of On-the-Spot Awards and Certificates of Recognition:
- On-the-Spot Award (Honesty)
- Rustom L. Satorre – returned a wallet containing ₱500 cash and another ₱1,200
- Sunday B. Velarde – turned over a lost cellular phone
- Certificate of Recognition (Patriotism & Discipline)
- Aiza M. Torrecampo – complete attendance in flag raising and lowering ceremonies
- Rogelio D. Telin – complete attendance in flag raising and lowering ceremonies
- Certificate of Recognition (Timely Compliance of Individual Performance Commitment Review)
- VPSAS Office (headed by Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub)
- Guidance and Counseling Unit (headed by Ms. Nenita V. Flores)
