Southern Leyte State U holds Researchlympics; showcases students' excellence in research
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) recently hosted the second edition of the Researchlympics on July 8, 2023, where students gathered to showcase their research skills.
The event, organized by the Office of Research and Innovation, took place at the RIES Building's second floor. Students from diverse campuses congregated to present their research endeavors.
The Researchlympics provides a platform for students to share their research findings and receive guidance from panelists. Divided into four categories namely: Education, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources, and Engineering, Information/Computing, and Emerging Technologies where they demonstrated the university's academic offerings.
The Education category highlights studies on teaching methodologies, inclusive education practices, and technology integration. In the Social Sciences category, students explore relevant societal issues. The Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources category focuses on research related to these fields, while the Engineering, Information/Computing, and Emerging Technologies category features cutting-edge advancements in technology and computing.
Winners were recognized in each category.
Education
1st: Tomas Oppus Campus with their paper entitled ""Language and Arithmetic: The Impact of Semantic Cues Identification on Word Problem-Solving Performance in a Teacher Education Institution."
2nd: Tomas Oppus Campus with their paper entitled "Kahandaan ng mga Guro sa Filipino sa Pagbuo ng mga Kagamitang Pampagtuturo sa Bagong Himtang (New Normal)."
3rd: Tomas Oppus Campus with their study entitled ""Differentiated Instruction in Teaching Science: A Meta-Synthesis."
Social Sciences
1st: San Juan Campus with their study entitled "The Prevalence of Depression, Anxiety and Stress among Tertiary Students: A Sequential Explanatory Mixed Method Study."
2nd: Maasin City Campus with their paper entitled "Students Psychological Response to the Typhoon Odette."
3rd: College of Criminal Justice with their paper entitled "Lived Experiences of Drug Surrenderees in Relation to Rehabilitation and Intervention Program in Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte."
Engineering, Information/Computing, and Emerging Technologies
1st: College of Computer Studies and Information Technology with their paper entitled "Machine Learning- Based Book Recommender System with Predictive Resource Usage Analysis."
2nd: College of Computer Studies and Information Technology with their paper entitled "Hotel Reservation Management with Customers' Comments Classification and Opinion Mining Analysis."
