DEPED AND CHED NIGHT Celebrates Rural Heritage through “Doon sa Aming Nayon”

A night of cultural pride and educational collaboration unfolded during the DepEd and CHED Night on July 25, 2024, at the DGM Municipal Court in Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte. Held in line with the town’s fiesta celebration and themed “Doon sa Aming Nayon,” the event brought together the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, and higher learning institutions to honor the life and culture of rural communities through music, dance, and performance.
A major highlight of the program was the vibrant participation of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), with the HUDYAKA Performing Arts Guild from the Main Campus, delivering a powerful cultural showcase. Their performance, which blended folk dances and theatrical storytelling, earned admiration from the community and served as a key component of SLSU’s extension program focused on cultural education and community engagement.
This celebration not only highlighted the community's rich cultural heritage but also demonstrated the incredible potential of our students. SLSU looks forward to more opportunities to celebrate and share Filipino culture and to continue this meaningful journey of cultural exchange and appreciation.
