CHED grants Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) to SLSU’s 13 academic programs
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) proudly celebrated a significant milestone as the Commission on Higher Education Region VIII (CHED RO8) awarded Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) to thirteen academic programs on December 2, 2024. This achievement is a testament to SLSU's unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education across all its campuses.
CHED RO8 Regional Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, personally presented the Certificates of Program Compliance, who commended SLSU’s steadfast pursuit of academic excellence. With 78% of its program offerings now COPC-compliant, SLSU continues to elevate its standards to ensure world-class education for its students.
The University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte, joined by university officials from the Main Campus, San Juan, and Hinunangan, accepted the Certificates of Program Compliance. In the thirteen programs awarded COPC, six programs are offered in the Main Campus, three offered in San Juan Campus, and four in Hinunangan Campus.
In his acceptance message, Dr. Duarte expressed deep gratitude to CHED for its steadfast support and guidance. Dr. Duarte also reaffirmed the SLSU's commitment to further improving compliance and expediting the documentation for programs still working toward COPC certification. He recognized the exceptional dedication of SLSU’s faculty and staff, whose hard work has been instrumental in achieving this accomplishment. Dr. Duarte emphasized the university’s determination to maintain its upward trajectory and reach even greater heights. “LUPAD SLSU!”
Certificates of Recognition were also given to Campus Directors of Maasin City Campus, San Juan Campus, Bontoc Campus and Hinunangan Campus for obtaining 100% Certificates of Program Compliance for its campus program offerings.
This achievement also aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. The accredited programs, Bachelor in Industrial Technology, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, are directly linked to fostering sustainable practices, empowering local communities, and preparing students for industries that drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth. These further reaffirm SLSU's commitment to sustainability, ensuring that its academic offerings contribute not only to individual success but also to global development.
