Vibe Check: City College of Ormoc Discovers Lit Ideas at SLSU Library
As part of their ongoing efforts to upgrade library facilities and resources, City College of Ormoc sent a delegation to Southern Leyte State University’s Library and Learning Commons on July 19, 2024. The group, composed of key library committees, included Maricel R. Ngo (Assistant College Administrator for Student Affairs and Services), Jenny Marx M. Apit (Assistant College Administrator for Academic Affairs), Aga Galabo (BSBA Program Head), Lalaine Golong (BSOA Program Head), and Pamela Pagalan (College Librarian).
Arriving at around 9 a.m., the committee members were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Geanrose Colonia, the University Librarian, who introduced them to the rest of the library staff. The visit commenced with a presentation by Ms. Angelie Gwyn Jamorol, the library’s technical staff, who provided an overview of the library’s facilities, services, and resources. The presentation also highlighted recent events and extension activities that the library had organized.
Following the presentation, the guests were guided on a tour of the library and its mini theater by Mr. Reynaldo Cebuala, the library technician. During the tour, Mr. Cebuala explained the various functions of the library’s areas and demonstrated the services offered to students and faculty.
Before concluding their visit, the City College of Ormoc delegation, along with Mrs. Colonia, Mr. Cebuala, and Ms. Jamorol, paid a visit to the Office of the Vice President of Academic and Finance. There, the delegation presented a certificate of appreciation to the Southern Leyte State University Library and Learning Commons as a token of gratitude for the warm hospitality and valuable insights provided during the benchmarking activity.
Hosting the benchmarking activity has proven to be highly beneficial for Southern Leyte State University. It allowed the institution to showcase its strengths, while also gaining valuable feedback that highlighted both achievements and areas for growth. These insights will guide future improvements, fostering innovation and further enhancing support for the university’s stakeholders. This experience reaffirms the university’s commitment to continuous improvement and strategic excellence.
