PROJECT LEADEV 2024: Empowering Student Organizations through Leadership Development Trail Camp
A total of 121 newly inducted student leaders from SLSU Main Campus, Tomas Oppus Campus, and Bontoc Campus gathered with a shared goal: to empower themselves to become proactive contributors to the institution's development. This project aligns seamlessly with the mission of the KF21 Ambassadors, which is to advance the University's reputation through the cultivation of Leadership Excellence, as articulated in the University's Core Values.
PROJECT LEADEV 2024: Empowering Student Organizations through Leadership Development Trail Camp, held on August 14-15, 2024, at the SLSU Multi-Purpose Court, was a leadership training program initiated by Southern Leyte State University, Main Campus, and spearheaded by the SLSU KF21 Ambassadors. This endeavor received valuable support from the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Sogod and the Office of External Linkages and International Affairs, Student Development Services, operating under the purview of Students and Auxiliary Services.
The trail camp included plenary sessions, activities, and close interactive sessions that were vital to the growth of all student leaders, honing their skills and responsibilities, especially in their respective positions and offices. The participants also enjoyed games that allowed them to lead their respective teams while developing camaraderie and strategic thinking.
On the second day of the event, Pasundayag 2024 was held—a competition that provided a platform for student organizations to showcase their outstanding initiatives and dedication to the community, celebrating their accomplishments and contributions. SLSU YouthMappers won the Most Outstanding Project Award and two minor awards: Most Socially Relevant Project Award and Most Innovative Project Award, along with a cash prize of 3,000 pesos, for their entry titled "Enhancing Community Resilience in Sogod, Southern Leyte: Leveraging Mapakalamidad.ph and Open Mapping Tools for Comprehensive Mapping of Critical Lifeline, Evacuation Centers, and Emergency Response Infrastructures."
Project Leadev concluded with the "Flames of Leadership: Awarding and Fellowship Night." During this ceremony, outstanding participants and teams received awards and recognition. A candle lighting ceremony was also held, symbolizing the need for student leaders to keep their passion for leadership burning. The ceremony represented their commitment to persevere, lead with integrity, and inspire others, even in challenging times.
Project Leadev 2024 was more than just a camp; it was a transformative experience. The participants left with a renewed sense of purpose, equipped with the tools and inspiration to lead their organizations and communities with confidence and compassion. As they return to their respective campuses, these student leaders carry with them the lessons learned and the bonds formed, ready to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
