Research and Innovation Office Hosts Writeshop on Crafting Publishable Commentary Papers
The Office of the Director for Research and Innovation organized a hands-on writeshop on crafting commentary papers on September 10, 2024 with the faculty members from Faculty of Technology (FOT) and Faculty of Engineering (FOE) together with their students. This activity aimed to enhance participants' skills in writing impactful commentary papers.
The workshop equipped attendees with essential strategies, techniques, and insights for crafting well-structured commentaries that contribute meaningfully to both academic community and beyond. Participants not only learned how to express their viewpoints more clearly but also understood the broader influence their writing could have on driving societal conversations and change.
Dr. Marie Khul Langub, Director for Research and Innovation, set an inspiring tone for the activity with her motivational welcome message. She emphasized the importance of commentary writing as a medium for sharing critical perspectives and innovative ideas, encouraging participants to take full advantage of the workshop to improve their writing skills.
This initiative is closely aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which aims to promote inclusive and equitable quality education and foster lifelong learning opportunities for all. The writeshop reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and societal engagement, fostering impactful scholarship across disciplines and empowering individuals with the skills needed for active participation in societal progress.
In addition, The Office of the Director for Research and Innovation invites collaboration from colleges and departments interested in similar initiatives. Those seeking more information about the hands-on writeshop are encouraged to visit the office to explore potential opportunities.
