MOA Signing: Advancing Equity - Strengthening Access and Success in Higher Education across Region VIII
On May 6-7, 2024, marks a significant stride forward in the pursuit of equitable education as Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) proudly attended the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing ceremony hosted by Samar State University (SSU), in collaboration with Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), and endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This momentous event, held at Haiyan Hotel and Resort in Barangay Bislig, Tanauan, Leyte, gathered ten institutions from across Region 8, all united in their commitment to empowering equity target students.
Representing SLSU at this occasion were the Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension Services, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Director for Research and Innovation, Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, RIES Head of SLSU - Bontoc Campus, Ms. Janine Dimzon, Geographic Information System Technology Center Head, Ms. Jannie Fleur Orano, Dr. Rhoderick D. Malangsa and Mr. Vicente Betarmos Jr.. Their presence underscored SLSU's unwavering dedication to fostering inclusive higher education and providing equitable opportunities for all aspiring minds in the region.
Joined by counterparts from Leyte Normal University, Visayas State University, University of Eastern Philippines, Eastern Visayas State University, Palompon Institute of Technology, Biliran Province State University, Eastern Samar State University, and Northwest Samar State University, the representatives pledged their commitment to breaking down barriers and creating a level playing field for all students.
The MoA signing represents not just a formal agreement, but a collective pledge to action. It signifies the beginning of a collaborative journey towards transformative change in Region 8, where every student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
