SLSU - Hinunangan joins 10th International Conference on Agriculture (AGRICO 2023)
Four faculty members from the Hinunangan Campus recently participated in the 10th International Conference on Agriculture, which centers on Global Food Security: Stopping Crop Losses. The conference was held via Zoom on September 18-19, 2023, in Bali, Indonesia.
Dr. Ian Navarrete, from the Environmental Science Department, was one of the resource speakers & moderator for the conference, with his presentation on Sustainable Solution for Thriving Agriculture: Combating Soil Degradation and Enhancing Plant Nutrition.
Aside from Dr. Navarrete, three other faculty members from the Agriculture Department presented their papers; among them was Ms. Ana Linda Gorme, who was recognized as one of the Best Presenters for her paper Influence of Different Rootstock Varieties of Sponge Gourd (Luffa aegyptiaca) on the Growth and Yield of Grafted Ampalaya (Momordica charantia) Under Protected Cultivation, on the track Climate Change, Crop Storage and Household Treatment.
The two other presenters were Dr. John Paul R. Gapasin, with a research entitled Effect of Organic Amendments in Soilless Production on the Postharvest Quality and Plant Nutrition of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) under the track Harvest Technologies for Reducing Food Losses, Food Security; and Ms. Meriza M. Saga with a paper entitled Evaluation of Cropping Systems Practices in Southern Leyte, Philippines under the conference track Climate Change, Crop Storage and Household Treatment.
Their participation aligns with the university's commitment to advancements in community engagement services and its mission of enhancing lives and invigorating economic development.
