Southern Leyte State U inks partnership with DepEd Southern Leyte Division to Strengthen Intellectual Property Skills
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) has officially partnered with the Department of Education Southern Leyte Division to advance the knowledge and practice of intellectual property protection. This collaboration was solidified by signing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the "Building up the Skills for Intellectual Property Protection" project on October 19, 2023, at the Southern Leyte Division Office in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, served as the representative for Southern Leyte State U. At the same time, Dr. Josilyn S. Solana, the Schools Division Superintendent, acted as the representative for the DepEd Southern Leyte Division. Both parties expressed their unwavering support and commitment to the collaborative project. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Engr Jonelle H. Tablada and Ms. Rio Katrina C. Avila, experts in non-chemical and chemical patents from Southern Leyte State University, alongside Mr. Zedrick Malbas, a Senior Education Program Specialist, and Ruth Poblete, an Education Program Supervisor from the Department of Education Southern Leyte Division.
The primary objective of this partnership is to enhance awareness and furnish secondary school instructors specializing in TECHVOC (Technical-Vocational), Science, and TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education) with the expertise required for searching and drafting patents. This collaborative effort promises to empower educators to safeguard and harness their innovative ideas, ultimately benefiting students and the broader community. It's a step toward fostering innovation and ensuring that the creative endeavors of educators are recognized and protected.
