SLSU - UISA spearheads Two-Day User Training and Registration in partnership with DICT
The University Information Systems and Analytics (UISA), under the leadership of Mr. Francis Rey Padao, held a significant two-day User Training and Registration event on July 23-24, 2024 in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The goal was to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), crucial for today's digital security.
The first day was attended by select faculty members of the main campus, university key officials, and campus directors. The day began with registration and preliminaries, including the national anthem and an opening prayer. Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon welcomed attendees, emphasizing PNPKI's importance. Atty. Melvin Carlo T. Barroa highlighted the need for strong security protocols, followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Jude A. Duarte. Engr. Samuel D. Tomaub outlined the training's purpose, focusing on the necessity of robust security measures. Mr. Daniel C. Ecarma and Mr. Chaddie Y. Estudillo from DICT VIII provided an in-depth PNPKI orientation, and Engr. Jeanelyn C. Vinegas showcased the eGOV promotional presentation. The afternoon session featured hands-on training in PNPKI registration and user functionalities.
The second day was attended by selected faculty members from external campuses, including Maasin City Campus, Tomas Oppus Campus, Bontoc Campus, Hinunangan Campus, and San Juan Campus. The day followed a similar structure, starting with registration and preliminaries. Engr. Samuel D. Tomaub reiterated the training's purpose, ensuring focus. Mr. Daniel C. Ecarma and Mr. Chaddie Y. Estudillo conducted another orientation session, and Engr. Jeanelyn C. Vinegas elaborated on eGOV strategies. Advanced training in PNPKI usage followed in the afternoon. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony led by Dr. Jude A. Duarte, who distributed certificates to participants. Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr. closed with a message encouraging the practical application of the knowledge gained.
The event was a vital step in strengthening the Philippines' information security framework. It provided a valuable platform for learning and development, creating a community of skilled professionals ready to address digital security challenges.
