SLSU - RI Office conducts Q1 In-House Review and Evaluation of PPAs

The Office of Research and Innovation successfully conducted the 1st Quarter In-House Review and Evaluation of PPAs on February 20, 2025, at the RIES Training Hall. This initiative provided a platform for faculty researchers to present their work, fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact.
Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, Director for Research and Innovation, opened the activity with an inspiring address on the importance of research in solving real-world challenges. The evaluation panel composed of Dr. Joey Caraquil, Mr. Tamar Mejia, and Engr. Aguilar, who provided valuable feedback and assessments on the research presentations. Dr. Marie Khul Langub, former Director for Research and Innovation and now the Vice President for Student and Auxiliary Services, also attended the activity.
A total of eight research papers were presented reflecting the university’s commitment to producing high-quality, relevant, and impactful research. The evaluation aimed to ensure alignment with institutional goals, uphold academic rigor, and enhance the applicability of research in addressing real-world challenges.
Beyond academic advancement, this initiative reinforces the university’s dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4: Quality Education – Promoting research that enhances learning methodologies and academic development; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Encouraging research that drives technological progress and sustainable infrastructure; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Addressing urban development and community resilience through innovative solutions; SDG 13: Climate Action – Supporting studies that contribute to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
By aligning with these global sustainability targets, Southern Leyte State University strengthens its commitment to advancing knowledge, driving innovation, and creating meaningful contributions toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and progressive society.
