Southern Leyte State University Hosts Event on Blue Waters Innovation Concepts
On June 10, 2024, Southern Leyte State University, organized by the Research In ovation and Extension Services, held a successful event titled "Innovate & Secure: Presentation and Critiquing of Research and Innovation Pitch Deck for Submission to Funders." The event focused on Blue Waters Innovation proposals, emphasizing the development of gender-sensitive, sustainable solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme began with the National Anthem and a prayer, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES). Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered inspiring words emphasizing the critical role of innovation.
The event's highlight was the presentation of Blue Waters Innovation proposals, which aimed at addressing key SDGs such as life below water (SDG 14), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17). These proposals showcased the university's commitment to fostering sustainable and gender-sensitive solutions to global challenges.
Esteemed evaluator Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero Prisno, provided invaluable feedback to the proponents, guiding them towards refining their innovative projects. The event also featured a productive discussion on the "Ways Forward," outlining the next steps for these groundbreaking initiatives.
