Southern Leyte State U culminates Community-Based Young Parents Support and Livelihood Program
The Community-Based Young Parents Support and Livelihood Program initiative of Southern Leyte State University came to a close on September 27, 2023, at Brgy Tampoong, Sogod, Southern Leyte.
The program was initiated by the university's Extension Services office and the Institute of Arts and Sciences Department, with residents from Barangay San Jose and Barangay Tampoong from Sogod, Southern Leyte, as the program beneficiaries, was initially implemented in Brgy San Jose from April to May 2023, followed by the implementation in Barangay Tampoong from August to September 2023.
The project is comprised of three main activities:
Knowledge Enhancement on Responsible Parenthood: This activity focused on educating participants about responsible parenting, with expert speakers leading the discussions.
Training and Production of Dishwashing Liquid: This activity involved training participants in the production of dishwashing liquid, with experts guiding them through making and packaging the product.
Seminar Workshop on Data Management and Bookkeeping: The third activity was a seminar-workshop addressing data management and bookkeeping skills. Expert speakers provided insights into effective data management and bookkeeping techniques.
These activities were designed to benefit the communities in Barangay San Jose and Barangay Tampoong, providing them with valuable knowledge and skills.
During the culmination ceremony, the team behind the initiative, particularly the program leader, Dr. Elvie D. Duran, was acknowledged for their guidance towards the program's success. The speakers and trainers were also recognized for their valuable contributions and for sharing their expertise with the beneficiaries. The culmination event also served as a platform for participants to showcase their newly acquired skills.
This program is a testament to the university's commitment to transforming lives, shaping the future, and empowering communities through sustainable initiatives to develop a more resilient community.
