The Office of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) serves as the driving force behind Southern Leyte State University’s global engagement, fostering collaborations that elevate the university’s academic and research standing on the international stage. Guided by BOR Resolution No. 24, series of 2024, ELIA operates under the Assistant Executive Officer, with its central office located at SLSU’s main campus. It also supervises and coordinates with key units, including the Center for Foreign Language and Culture (CFLC), Alumni Affairs-Academe Industry Linkages (AA-AAIL), and the deans of external campuses to ensure seamless implementation of internationalization initiatives across the university.

As the coordinating hub for all internationalization activities, ELIA facilitates and supports international internships, faculty and student mobility programs, research collaborations, international presentations, and global networking efforts. While the respective university offices initiate and execute these engagements, ELIA provides essential guidance, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and national regulations such as CHED’s Internationalization Roadmap, RA 11448, EO No. 28 s. 2000, MO 2017, AECTS, and APT frameworks.

Aligned with the SLSU Strategic Plan 2025-2029, ELIA plays a pivotal role in intensifying the university’s global reach, strengthening academic and research partnerships, and enhancing SLSU’s presence in international education. 

By leveraging its strong international policies, established research networks, and dedicated faculty and staff, ELIA ensures that SLSU remains competitive in the evolving landscape of higher education. Its initiatives contribute to improving global rankings, expanding participation in international forums, and attracting more international students and scholars.

Through these efforts, ELIA reaffirms SLSU’s commitment to becoming a globally recognized institution, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and resilient educational environment that actively contributes to regional and global development.
