Southern Leyte State U receives funds from DOST - CEST for project grant
On May 22, 2024, Southern Leyte State University officially received from the Department of Science and Technology Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (DOST- CEST) a grant of six hundred forty-two thousand four hundred thirty-seven pesos and eighty- five centavos (P642,437.85) to finance the implementation of the Project Community Empower thru Science and Technology as Sustainability Approach for Resiliency and Food Security, through a turnover ceremony.
The project aims to provide opportunities to group beneficiaries, both men and women, to build capacity and generate income by providing science and technology-based interventions to the farmer's and women's organizations of barangay Kahupian, Sogod, Southern Leyte. The turnover of funds from a funding agency entails the reallocation or utilization of financial resources provided by the agency for specific purposes. It is a strategic mechanism for optimizing project performance and managing risks—building capacity, and fostering stakeholder engagement within the recipient organization. By embracing transparency, accountability, and adaptability in fund utilization, the funding agency and the recipient organization can enhance their mutual interests, achieve shared goals, and contribute to positive development outcomes in their communities.
The ceremony was attended by the officer of Kahupian Samahang Magsasaka Association and IMES Gwapa Women's Organization Officers of Brgy. Kahupian; representatives from DOST, Mr. Emmanuel E.
