Southern Leyte State U RIES holds fourth i-CITE launching
With the theme of "Innovations for Social Impact and Initiatives," Southern Leyte State University wrapped up its fourth launching of the Invention, Creative Works, Innovation and Technology Exhibit (i-CITE) on November 15, 2023, at the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES) Building.
This one-day event, which the Research and Innovation office organized under the leadership of Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, celebrated the innovative, creative, and scientific ideas of professionals and students from Southern Leyte State University across all campuses and colleges.
The event is an excellent opportunity to be ready for and highlight SLSU's innovators for the national and international competitions, according to Dr. Jude A. Duarte, President of the University, who applauded the activity. He also anticipates that next year's event will be bigger.
The activity was a great opportunity to venue the inventions, innovations, and creative works of Southern Leyte State U's local inventors from the College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CCSIT), College of Engineering (COE), College of Technology (COT), College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), San Juan Campus, and Tomas Oppus Campus.
To enact economic change, Southern Leyte State University's i-CITE program watches as academic and scientific conceptions of tangible technological products are conceptualized and brought to market, potentially serving as technology incubators. In addition, it is anticipated that this will draw in additional stakeholders and encourage them to assist the university's research and development efforts in various ways, from ideation to commercialization — marking the start of a more evident partnership between academia and industry.
