Southern Leyte State U - Research and Innovation Office holds Quantitative Data Analytics Seminar-Workshops
The Office of Research and Innovation conducted two Quantitative Data Analytics Seminar-Workshops: Time Series Analysis and Principal Component Analysis.
In today's fast-paced and data-driven world, faculty researchers are expected to conduct research that generates valuable insights, which can inform decision-making and shape policies. The availability of large datasets provides opportunities for researchers to identify patterns and trends that were previously unknown. However, this also means that faculty researchers must have a strong foundation in data analysis to collect, clean, analyze, and visualize data effectively.
Both activities were welcomed by Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, who commended all the participants for engaging more in research activities to improve research outputs and develop collaborations among other institutions and agencies.
The Time Series Analysis Workshop was held on October 11, 2023. The resource person of the activity was Ms. Adelfa C. Diola, SRS II. Present participants during the workshop were from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (2), College of Engineering (3), College of Technology (3), College of Criminal Justice (1), College of Computer Science and Information Technology (2), Institute of Art and Sciences (5), Graduate Studies (1), San Juan Campus (4), Tomas Oppus Campus (3) and Hinunangan Campus (2).
On the other hand, on November 30, 2023, Principal Component Analysis was conducted. During the activity, Dr. Aldwin M. Teves, Director, University Planning and Development, was the Resource Person. The participants were from the College of Computer Science and Information Technology (2), Department of Teacher Education (1), Graduate Studies (1), Tomas Oppus Campus (3) and San Juan Campus (11).
These activities address challenges by providing faculty researchers with a comprehensive data analysis training program. The program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to analyze data effectively, make informed decisions based on their findings, and ultimately contribute to advancing knowledge in their respective fields. By enhancing their data analysis skills, faculty researchers will be better equipped to conduct research that generates meaningful insights and contributes to the growth and development of their disciplines.
