Southern Leyte State University – Research and Innovation Hosts In-House Review and Evaluation
On July 17, 2024, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – Research and Innovation held a successful In-House Review and Evaluation at the RIES Training Hall. The event showcased 12 presentations on various topics such as sustainable biofuel production, solid waste management, infrastructure projects, and counseling trends after the pandemic.
Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Director for Research and Innovation, and Dr. Joey Caraquil, Professor VI from the Tomas Oppus campus, were the evaluators. They provided valuable feedback to help improve the research projects. The day started with a welcome message and introduction of the evaluators, followed by the research presentations. The afternoon session continued with more presentations and discussions, giving researchers a chance to share their findings, get helpful insights, and have meaningful conversations.
The day ended with the awarding of certificates to the evaluators and closing remarks. This review not only underscored the critical role of research and innovation at SLSU but also highlighted the university’s dedication to driving progress and development within the community.
The event addressed several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), showcasing the university's commitment to global initiatives. The topics discussed aligned with SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 4: Quality Education. By exploring renewable energy sources, focusing on sustainable urban environments, highlighting the importance of resilient infrastructure and innovation, addressing mental health and well-being, and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, the event demonstrated SLSU's commitment to addressing global challenges through local initiatives and scholarly activities.
