External Linkages & International Affairs
Serves as an initiator and implementer of the different plans, programs, and activities (PPAs) for internationalization of the university. These PPAs should aim to develop consortia, cooperation, and linkages with local and international institutions in the field of science, technology and innovations, in collaboration with the offices of the Heads for Academic, Research & Innovations, Extension Services and Community Relations, Students Affairs and Auxiliary Services of the campus.
Mobility History
Internationalization is anchored on CHED memo order #15 s 2016 which articulate the Philippine higher education internationalization policy to provide a national perspective and context for various initiatives related to internationalization. The journey of Southern Leyte State U begun by finding its way to explore what is outside of its own country to advance education in 2011, but not yet in an organized manner not until year 2020 when the International Affairs Operations Manual (BOR Resolution No. 177 s. 2020) was approved.
This IZN presentation is only in terms of student mobility: outbound, inbound, or exchange; and short term (below 3 months) or long term (3 months or more) and is presented by following periods: before pandemic (2011-2019) and during pandemic (2020-present).
The Organizational Structure of International Students Support Center together with the Director for External Linkages and International Affairs, Head of International Students Support Center, and Staffs.
The Office of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) is located at 1/F IAS building. ELIA deals with international affairs towards the institution’s internationalization programs an
d participation as well as aiding and catering to the international students' needs and queries regarding a certain program or activity. Moreover, ELIA does the administrative duties concerning international affairs including, securing MOAs, inviting international guests, and submitting activity proposals.
The International Student Support Center (ISSC) assists international students in advancing from one level of education to the next. Living and Learning Communities (LCC), disability support, diversity, specialized learning support, admissions, cultural activities, student leadership and organization, and parent education are all available at the center.
SLSU KF21 AMMBASSADORS
The student ambassadors is led by the supreme Student Council President or his/her representative. They are trained student-volunteers who are to take the lead in receiving International guests, promoting the culture of the province and the region, Initiating activities with the participation of the international students, and providing support to the office of the Director for ELIA in terms of international studentsactivities.

Student leaders, ambassadors hold program to strengthen IZN mobility through academics, the arts
To continue Southern Leyte State University's journey towards full internationalization, the office of the External Linkage and International Affairs (ELIA) in collaboration with Student and Auxiliary Services (SAS) spearheaded a series of simultaneous activities on "Strengthening Internationalization Mobility through Academics and the Arts" on June 15-17, 2022 for the University officials, faculty members, and students.
The multi-faceted event aims to organize and prepare student-leaders and KF21 members when engaging with international students and partners. The KF21 are student ambassadors for internationalization.
The activity has provided students with ways how to best promote the culture, language, and arts of Southern Leyte province and the Eastern Visayas region to partner with international institutions and foreign students.
The activity was graced by Miss Jennifer Montero, Regional Manager of Camosun College who mentored and shared her expertise on the conduct of the said event and the university's journey towards internationalization.
