University Idol Season 8 | Resounding dream beyond infinity
Optimistic people know that something positive can always come out from their experiences. They project positive pictures in minds from the temporary setbacks they encounter, from the doubt of what they can do, from the failure they got from the first try or from the patterns that brought them down. It’s already set in their minds that failures are impermanent, and that they are not doomed to fail. They’re not carved in a marble forever. Letting these failures to cripple them will just make them paralyzed, thus can’t walk to their journey to their designed destiny. They never quit; they always win. They don’t chase people; they chase dreams. They’re never afraid of the sunset because they equally enjoy the moon.
Last February 28, 2017, Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus, in collaboration with the Supreme Student Council hosted the University Idol Season 8. The Multi-Purpose Court was filled with thrill as to who will be the next UI Grand Champion; long sharp shrill screams from the different colleges; tarpaulins and balloons waved in the air; and of course, the voices of the contestants that wowed the judges and the crowd.
The 10 contenders competed four categories- the English, Tagalog, Visayan and Collaboration Categories. All of them showcased what they’ve got, unleashing the power within. They sang like there’s no limit in the skies. Their voices danced nimbly in the serene night.
However, there were only five contestants to continue the final round. And aja! Main Campus’ representative, Ms. Jenny Tagnipez was in. Others were Ms. Geraldine Ceniza from the College of Teacher Education Campus, Mr. Mark Eduard Malaki from the Business and Management Campus, Ms. Ronelyn Piquet from the CAALS Campus and Ms. Joyfin Gesulga from the CTE Campus.
The finalists sang their winning-piece, and yes, they’re all impressively gratifying. Played with emotions, their tranquil motions gently touched every thirsty soul in the venue.
Ms. Joyfin Gesulga, from the College of Teacher Education was declared as the University Idol Season 8 Grand Champion. Mr. Mark Eduard Malaki was the First-Runner Up and our very own Ms. Jenny Tagnipez as the Second-Runner Up.
Our mind is like our stomach. It digests what we feed on it. We should not let the geography of worries and the topography of ‘I WON’T, I’M AFRAID I’LL FAIL’ emotions dominate our existence; stop us to sore high and to climb the correct ladder. If we do not have to take the necessary risks, we surely have the patience to spend a life of regrets. Be an optimist, be a winner.
