SLSU-Bontoc partners with ACCORD Inc. for project Resilient Isla
Southern Leyte State University – Bontoc Campus partnered with Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development, Incorporated (ACCORD, Inc.) for the Resilient Island Local Government Units Actions for Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change (Resilient IsLa) project.
Together, SLSU President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, Campus Director Prof. Gladys L. Pascual and ACCORD, Inc. Executive Director Sindhy B. Obias sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for project Resilient IsLa on May 21, 2024, at the Bontoc Campus, Administrative Conference Room.
Resilient IsLa is a project spearheaded by the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance - United States of America for International Development that aims to mitigate the impacts of climate-related disasters on island municipalities and communities particularly in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Mindanao, and Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte, Philippines, through enhancing their resilience capacities in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA).
In this MOA, SLSU Bontoc committed to providing technical personnel with the required expertise in conducting project-related activities, exchanging technical knowledge and expertise, and active involvement and engagement in various gatherings such as meetings, workshops, and assessments organized by ACCORD, Inc.
This project was made possible through the active support of the designated Head for Research, Innovations, and Extensions on the campus, Ms. Janine C. Dimzon, Mr. Rexal Toledo as the Extension Coordinator, and the College Dean, Mr. Jimmy Salamida.
Moreover, the Agreement shall remain in force until May 31, 2025, unless terminated.
