Hotel de SLSU Cafeteria Now Serving at the SLSU Food Court

The Hotel de SLSU Cafeteria stall has officially opened at the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Food Court on April 8, 2025, at 11:30 AM, offering students and faculty access to affordable and delicious meals. The launch, marked by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, was led by SLSU Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, alongside Engr. Cris Vincent Ranque, SLSU BARGO Director.
During his inspirational message, Dr. Baclayon, shared the vision behind the food stall, emphasizing that it is more than just a dining option—it is a step toward sustainability, entrepreneurial growth, and student-centered service. He noted that the stall was developed in collaboration with other food court vendors, aiming to complement—not compete with—their existing offerings.
“What others do not offer; we can offer here. We are not competing, but helping each other grow,” he shared with confidence.
The celebration was made even more memorable with a heartfelt musical performance by Ms. Alyssa Bridget Labastida, a Tourism Management student at SLSU.
Following the program, the food stall quickly attracted students, faculty, and staff, all eager to try the new offerings. The menu features a delightful variety of meals, beginning with Chao fan served with an array of toppings such as poached egg, siomai, lumpia shanghai, tocino, and hotdog. Adding to the appeal are hearty, home-cooked Filipino dishes like ginataang monggo, halang-halang, menudo, and sari-sari—with the selection changing daily, giving customers something fresh and exciting to look forward to each visit. Also available were beloved local snacks including vegetable lumpia, siomai (in beef, pork, and chicken variants), bud-bud, moron, biko, and bingka.
During the launch, every meal came with a serving of rice, a refreshing glass of orange juice, and a complimentary slice of moist chocolate cake, making the experience even more special. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the taste and value. The vibrant, energetic atmosphere reflected a shared excitement for this new addition to campus life.
