Southern Leyte State University conducted an Exploratory Meeting on Strategic Collaboration with BELCO Higher Education Alliance, and Fontys University

On November 18, 2024, Southern Leyte State University held an exploratory meeting with BELCO Higher Education Alliance and Fontys University for potential strategic collaboration, specifically on Joint research projects, Faculty exchange programs, Student mobility initiatives, and Curriculum co-development.

The BELCO Higher Education Alliance, initially founded by Fontys UAS (the Netherlands), UCL University College (Denmark), CBS International Business School (Germany), BBA INSEEC (France) and LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finland), is a consortium of European and Non-European Higher Education Institutions with a strong international focus (belco-edu.com).

Representing BELCO Higher Education Alliance is the President and the Head International Relations & Research at Fontys UAS, Dr. Maurice Cuypers. During the meeting, Dr. Cuypers shared insights on BELCO's vision and capabilities, emphasizing the alignment of interests and the potential for a robust partnership with SLSU.

The said meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both parties, with Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President of Southern Leyte State University, emphasizing the significance of global academic collaboration to enhance educational opportunities for the students and stakeholders.

The meeting also convened the key university officials and faculty members, including Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services; Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs; Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Director of Research and Innovation; and faculty members from SLSU Tomas Oppus Campus, led by Campus Director Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla.

The exploratory meeting serves as a crucial step forward for Southern Leyte State University in forging a meaningful collaboration with the BELCO Higher Education Alliance and Fontys University, paving the way for impactful partnerships and global academic advancement.
