Southern Leyte State University Hosts 2nd Nihongo Fiesta 2024 with SAIKA Social Welfare Inc.
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) celebrated the 2nd Nihongo Fiesta 2024 on May 29, 2024, in partnership with SAIKA Social Welfare Incorporated. The event occurred at the SLSU Plenary Hall, USSC Building, showcasing a vibrant blend of Japanese culture and student talent.
The Nihongo Fiesta 2024, spearheaded by Ms. Khristyl Joy F. Sibay's Foreign Language class and the SLSU External Linkages and InternationL Affairs Office, is a total involvement of students from the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Technology.
A celebration highlight was the presence of SAIKA Foundation's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Masayuki Matsuo, and other invited Japanese guests, namely Engr. Hiromi Shinagawa and Mr. Mikio Tanazawa. Their participation lent authenticity and significance to the festivities.
The fiesta featured a series of competitions in festival dances, J-pop singing, cosplay, and spoken-word poetry, all celebrating Japanese culture in diverse and creative ways.
The event aimed to promote cultural exchange and deepen the students' understanding of the Japanese language and traditions.
