SLSU Faculty Serve as Learning Resource Filipino Language Evaluators of the Division-Based Development of Lesson Scripts of Deped-Maasin City Division
Dr. Mark B. Galdo and Dr. Riza L. Lacerna from the Filipino Education Department of Southern Leyte State University have taken on essential roles as Learning Resource Filipino Language Evaluators. They participated in the Division-Based Development of Lesson Scripts for National Reading Programs (NRP) and Catch-Up Fridays (CUF) initiatives of the Department of Education (DepEd) – Maasin City Division.
The engagement, spanning from July 8-13 and July 15-18, 2024, is held at the SLEmCoop Function Hall, Asuncion, Maasin City. The initiative is led by the DepEd Maasin City’s Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Office under the leadership of Mr. Fernando F. Salapi, OIC-CID Chief. The events are attended by key education officials including the School Division Superintendent Dr. Genis S. Murallos, CESO V, and Dr. Marilyn B. Siao, Director III for the Bureau of Learning Delivery at the Department of Education Central Office.
The National Reading Programs and Catch-Up Fridays are part of the educational strategy to address learning gaps and ensure that students receive the necessary support to achieve academic success. Dr. Galdo and Dr. Lacerna's expertise in Filipino language education is important for developing effective lesson scripts that aim to improve literacy and comprehension among students. This activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 – Quality Education and 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving quality education.
