SLSU Bontoc empowers BUBUDAFA to Strengthen Agripreneurship

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – Bontoc Campus continued its commitment to community empowerment by conducting a focused training on recordkeeping and business plan development for the Bunga, Bontoc Upland Developer and Farmers Association (BUBUDAFA) on April 25, 2025.
The initiative aligns with the Farm Business School’s (FBS) goals to develop farmers not just as producers, but as agripreneurs—farmers who manage their operations as businesses and make informed decisions to enhance profitability and resilience.
SLSU Bontoc’s Mr. Erwin P. Remojo, Administrative Officer V, and Mr. Jonathan M. Kuizon, Accountant II, served as resource persons for the activity. Drawing from their professional expertise, they guided participants through the fundamentals of crafting a sustainable and practical business plan tailored to agricultural enterprises.
Mr. Kuizon shared his expertise through a session titled “Pagrekord sa Negosyo sa Agrikultura” (Keeping Farm Business Records), where he discussed the different types of records essential for running a successful agricultural enterprise. He emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate and timely documentation, including sales and income records, expense tracking, inventory logs, labor records, and production input records. His discussion highlighted how these tools help farmers make better financial decisions, measure progress, and prepare for expansion or external funding opportunities.
Meanwhile, Administrative Officer V Erwin P. Remojo shared his expertise on crafting a business plan, emphasizing the importance of establishing a strong foundation through the Vision, Mission, and Goals (VMG). He explained that a clear VMGO serves as a guiding framework for any agricultural enterprise, helping farmers align their operations with long-term aspirations and community needs.
“Setting realistic goals and measurable objectives to ensure progress and accountability. By grounding their business plans in a meaningful VMGO, farmers are better equipped to create focused strategies, make informed decisions, and attract potential partners or investors,” Remojo added.
BUBUDAFA’s active participation in the session reflects the association’s commitment to growth and development. As they continue their journey through the FBS program, the knowledge and tools gained through this training are expected to contribute significantly to the success and sustainability of their agricultural enterprises.
This collaboration underscores SLSU Bontoc’s ongoing role in fostering inclusive and grassroots-driven development by bringing practical, livelihood-centered learning directly to the community.
This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
