SLSU Holds Send-Off Ceremony for the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) 5th Batch

The Send-Off Ceremony for the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) takes place at Southern Leyte State University's Main Campus Board Room today, February 6, 2025. This event is organized for the six student teachers who will be sent to Vietnam for their teaching internship. The six student teachers are Mr. Kobe Spencer Juranes, Mr. Justine Joe Balbon, Mr. John Cloyd Rocacurva, Ms. Jessa Bonita, Ms. Lyndee Ann Suaybaguio, and Ms. Viennes Lee Seron.
The board room is distinguished by the presence of Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President; Dr. Constantino Medilo Jr., VPAA; Dr. Marie Khul Langub, VPSAS; Dr. Francis Ann Sy, VPRIES ; Dr. Clemente Cobilla, SLSU-TO Campus Director; and Dr. Ingrid Uy, Director of ELIA. Also in attendance are esteemed faculty members from SLSU-Tomas Oppus Campus: Dr. Norla Grace Betarmos, Faculty Dean; Dr. Leslie Elisa Cobilla, internship supervisor for the SIAP; Dr. Violeta Felisilda, Program Head of English Education; and Mr. Jayson Orais, academic advisor of the SIAP English students.
The program begins with a welcome message by Dr. Ingrid Uy, followed by a rationale and introduction of participants by Dr. Leslie Elisa Cobilla. Inspirational messages, offering practical advice on succeeding in their internships, exceeding the achievements of previous batches, representing SLSU well, maintaining contact with faculty, prioritizing safety and health, and maximizing professional growth and broadening their knowledge and experiences, are given by Dr. Constantino Medilo Jr. and Dr. Jude Duarte. Dr. Clemente Cobilla delivers the closing remarks and outlines ways forward.
Yesterday, SLSU-TO also conducted an on-campus send-off ceremony and culmination, themed as a season of thanksgiving. This event was attended by internship supervisors, parents, faculty, Laboratory High School students, and English Circle members. The SIAP students shared their impressions, and the faculty also gave send-off messages. The SIAP students performed songs and dances, adding a meaningful and heartfelt touch to the event.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by providing students with opportunities for global learning and fostering cross-cultural exchanges that contribute to a more inclusive and equitable educational experience.
