Southern Leyte State University YouthMappers Bags Three Honors at YouthMappers Annual Awards

The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) YouthMappers chapter proudly received three major recognitions at this year’s YouthMappers Annual Chapter Awards, highlighting its outstanding performance in innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement.
The chapter was honored with the Innovation in Mapping Award, recognizing its organization and implementation of innovative activities and methods for the collection, use, and analysis of geospatial data benefiting the community. It was further recognized with the Women’s Participation Award, for fostering inclusive leadership and empowering female mappers. Additionally, the chapter’s meaningful collaboration with local communities earned it the YouthMappers Community Outreach Award.
These awards reflect the chapter’s commitment to using mapping as a tool for social good while nurturing a diverse and dynamic community of young geospatial leaders. Their work significantly contributes to achieving SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
“This acknowledgment is not just a recognition of our chapter’s projects—it is a celebration of the collective effort, creativity, and passion of every member who believed in the power of mapping to make a difference,” said Anne Marie Vic E. Lobo, Chapter President.
SLSU YouthMappers extends heartfelt thanks to the global YouthMappers network for the continued support. The chapter remains dedicated to advancing its mission—using innovative, inclusive, and community-driven mapping to create lasting impact.
