Business Incubation building soon to rise in Tomas Oppus Campus
Located in what was once the volleyball court, the Business Incubation will soon cater to students and staff as offices and classrooms become available.
The Business Incubation building is intended for the faculty members and students of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) for skills development and capacity building. Being one of the biggest numbers in terms of population, BSBA faculty and staff have shared facilities with other programs.
Phase I of this business incubation building is to house the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) hub, business incubation and simulation room, alumni center, consultation area, and the faculty room.
Former Chairperson of BSBA program Candy Elizabeth G. Salapi said that the incubation room opens the possibility of a business idea growing into a realistic business entity.
It was during Salapi's tenure that the actual preparation for its funding and construction gained traction.
Meanwhile, current BSBA program Chairperson Mary Cris S. Orias added that the need for this initiative has been included in the program's strategic plan for quite some time.
"The Business Incubation building is very significant to our business administration students and to the BSBA program in general as this will be very helpful in honing their skills and providing them the opportunity to put their learnings into practice," Orais quipped, revealing that the undertaking will provide n avenue for local entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises to acquire technical support for their businesses.
It can be recalled that an initial meeting was called by the University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes herself with the representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Tomas Oppus Campus officials to commence the project.
