FCJ, FAS Hold Writeshop on Academic Publishing

On April 24, 2025, the Faculty of Criminal Justice (FCJ) and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), under the leadership of their respective deans, Dr. Denis Torino and Dr. Aldwin Teves, in collaboration with the Office of Research and Innovation, successfully conducted a Writeshop for Completed Papers on April 24, 2025, a capacity-building initiative designed to support faculty members in transforming their research outputs into academic manuscripts suitable for publication.
The event commenced with an inspiring message from Engr. Khorina Aguilar, the Office of Research and Innovation Director. She highlighted the role of research in advancing academic excellence and contributing to societal development. She urged faculty participants to seize the opportunity to transform their completed studies into scholarly articles that can make meaningful contributions nationally and globally.
Dr. Ludito Ramirez, Head of the Journal Publication and Management Office, served as the resource speaker. His insights on manuscript refinement, journal selection, and the publication process provided practical guidance and inspiration for participants aiming to meet scholarly publishing standards.
This initiative is closely aligned with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4: Quality Education – by empowering faculty to produce research that enhances inclusive and quality learning; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – through fostering research and innovation within academic institutions; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – particularly through studies from the Faculty of Criminal Justice that support the development of accountable and inclusive institutions; SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by highlighting the strength of inter-faculty collaboration and institutional support in achieving shared global objectives.
This writeshop served as a strategic platform to enhance the university's research culture. Through scholarly publication, it reinforced the institution's commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful contributions to sustainable development.
