SLSU transitions to Southern Leyte State U, unveils its new look with new website launch
"Out with the old, in with the new. Good bye SLSU, hello Southern Leyte State U"
After months of planning and work, the new and much improved Southern Leyte State University website was launched on March 1, 2022.
In September 2021, Southern Leyte State U began unveiling its new domain and a new look for brand unification, distinction, and identity. The rebranding and the new website is an upshot and developed version of the then SLSU and an online portal of the university for digitalized communication across and beyond its borders as an enabling capacity towards digital transformation.
The web redesign was a result of the coordination between the offices of the Public Affairs and Strategic Communication (PASCom) and the University Information System and Analytics (UISA). The new website reflects input from numerous stakeholders throughout Southern Leyte State U that included faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other key stakeholders. This initiative is to also ensure that Southern Leyte State U ranks high on the list of search results that search engines deem the most relevant.
The new Southern Leyte State U website is equipped with online admission and enrollment to make quality education offered by the university accessible for everyone. The new website offers a digital workspace for productivity and collaboration equipped with tools to support electronic communications, online meetings, file sharing, and collaborations. There is a learner’s information management system, a digital system designed to help manage the student’s academic and financial information, and Online Research Journal equipped with an open journal system to support borderless research.
University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes said that the newly-designed website provides everyone a more updated, fresher, and better content for the purpose of avoiding the inevitable consequence of technology advancement, education trends, and the way people gather information.
"This undertaking is to make the university unique and be known not just in the province and region but in the whole country and world," Dr. Yepes quipped.
Meanwhile, the new Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services and the Overall Chairperson for the 18th Charter Anniversary Dr. Juanita M. Costillas described the new SLSU website as a reflection of a dream and aspiration to continuously improve the university services to our stakeholders, if possible to reach out the last, the least and the lost.
"As the window of our university, our website keeps on making itself more relevant, service-oriented, and gender-responsive bringing Southern Leyte State U to the realm of the borderless world," Dr. Costillas added.
Along with the website is the launching of the Moments of 18 that pertains to the different 18 activities all year long in view of the celebration of the 18th Charter Anniversary of the university. Likewise, the University Five-Year Strategic Plan-Execution Continuum was also launched which was contextually and strategically devised in order for Southern Leyte State University to become a leading higher educational institution that advances knowledge and will be known for innovation and compassion for humanity, creating an inclusive society and sustainable world.
This is one of the 18 activities set to be carried out until December this year. This is by far the longest anniversary celebration in the history of the university since 2004.
