CLEAR Project Launches First Training on Fundamental Budget Management in Brgy. Canturing

The CLEAR Project, spearheaded by Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus, officially kicked off its series of community training sessions with its first activity titled “Fundamental Budget Management,” held on May 28-29, 2025, at Barangay Canturing, Maasin City. The training was attended by key sectors of the community including women, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), and Sangguniang Barangay Member (SBM) representatives, who are the primary beneficiaries of the project.
The activity focused on strengthening the financial literacy of participants through three essential topics. The first was Financial Planning, where participants were guided on setting realistic financial goals, creating a budget, and managing income effectively. The second topic, Expense Management, introduced practical strategies for tracking daily expenses, minimizing unnecessary spending, and improving personal financial discipline. Lastly, the discussion on Resource Allocation emphasized techniques for prioritizing needs, managing limited resources, and making informed financial decisions, both at home and within organizational settings.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Junelen G. Inting, the CLEAR Project Leader, together with Juvenal Flores Sumaya, Resource Speaker, both of whom brought insightful and experience-based discussions to the table. Using relatable examples and interactive activities, the resource speakers ensured that the training was not only informative but also engaging for all participants.
“Learning how to budget and manage our limited resources properly is something we can all benefit from, especially in our community,” shared one participant.
The activity was praised for its relevance and practicality, particularly in addressing the everyday financial challenges faced by households and youth organizations in Brgy. Canturing.
The CLEAR Project continues to promote community empowerment through education and skills development. More capacity-building activities are planned in the coming months, focusing on sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and digital empowerment.
