SLSU-MCC Leads Coastal Clean-Up Drive: A Collective Push Towards Environmental Stewardship

In a united effort to champion environmental responsibility, officers from various student organizations at Southern Leyte State University Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) participated in a Coastal Clean-Up Drive in Combado early Wednesday morning. With enthusiasm and a shared commitment to protecting local ecosystems, student leaders gathered by the coastline, prepared to make a positive impact.
SSC Adviser James Michael Amrinto led a safety briefing, emphasizing protective gear, hydration, and proper handling of waste. Campus Nurse Aurora Abadiano, RN, was present to monitor health and safety, ensuring that students could engage in the cleanup responsibly.
Representatives from student organizations, including the Supreme Student Council (SSC), CPAS, PULSE, JSWAP, and Peer Facilitators, worked together to collect litter along the coastline. Participants found themselves picking up an assortment of debris—plastics, bottles, and various other refuse that had washed up or been left behind.
The clean-up concluded, leaving behind a visibly revitalized coastline. As students posed for a final group photo, their sense of accomplishment was evident, with many expressing hope that similar initiatives would become a regular part of SLSU-MCC’s community outreach.
This Coastal Clean-Up Drive serves as a reminder that environmental care is a shared responsibility. SLSU-MCC’s student leaders showcased their dedication to this cause, affirming their role in fostering a cleaner, greener future for the communities of Maasin City and beyond.
