BARGO Strengthens Operational Systems and Team Unity in Strategic 2-Day Activity

The Southern Leyte State University’s Business Affairs and Resource Generation Office (BARGO) successfully convened a comprehensive two-day institutional activity on July 3–4, 2025, at the Libhu Hill Resort and Sports Complex in Maasin City. The event brought together 22 key personnel from various SLSU campuses, emphasizing the importance of strengthening operational excellence, financial accountability, and collaborative teamwork.
The primary objectives of this activity were to formalize BARGO’s operational procedures through the review of the draft Operations Manual, to upgrade financial reporting systems, and to foster a cohesive team environment among project managers, coordinators, and staff. These initiatives align with the university’s broader commitments to organizational excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable development—core pillars supporting its long-term growth.
The program commenced with an inspiring Welcome Message from Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, Vice President for Administration and Finance, which sets a tone of strategic focus and unity. It was followed by an uplifting inspirational message from Mr. Leo A. Omamalin, OIC-Chief Administrative Officer-Administration, emphasizing the importance of resilience and shared purpose.
Throughout the activity, project managers delivered detailed presentations and conducted review sessions on operational workflows for various income-generating initiatives. These included Hotel de SLSU, Cafeteria & Catering Services, University Pasalubong Center, Water
Vending Machines, University Biological Assets, Printing Services, Garments & T-Shirt Production, Food Court, and SLSU Merchandise for resale. Each presentation was subjected to structured critiques and consultations, expertly facilitated by university resource persons, including Mr. Leo A. Omamalin, Ms. Rumalyn T. Sablan, and Ms. Sharra Mae Gonzalez, who provided valuable insights on enhancing workflows, policy adherence, and standardization practices.
A dedicated workshop on financial reporting equipped participants with practical skills to adopt standardized documentation procedures, reinforcing principles of transparency, accuracy, and accountability across all BARGO-managed projects.
The second day’s highlight was a series of team-building exercises designed to strengthen leadership, improve communication, and foster inter-campus cooperation. These activities fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose among BARGO staff, emphasizing the importance
of collaboration in achieving organizational goals.
“More than just a training session, this activity is a critical step toward professionalizing our operations and cultivating a unified, mission-driven team,” stated Engr. Cris Vincent L. Ranque, BARGO Director.
The resulting revised BARGO Operations Manual, coupled with improved financial reporting capabilities and renewed team synergy, is expected to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of SLSU’s income-generating initiatives, contributing significantly to the university’s long-term development goals.
