Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Rosario Paulo, told the 27 personnel who attended the seminar that the event was aimed at improving the participants' verbal and written communication skills and to fully understand their roles in the management of university records. "Your presence today shows your interest in improving your profession and be it known that you are assets of the university being frontline service providers, " Paulo said.
Speaking at the seminar is Ms. Hazelle V. Asaldo, Administrative Officer V, talked about the basics of Frontline Clientele Service, Redefining the role of Administrative personnel in Records Management and Awareness on the Legal Framework on Record Keeping. One of the English professors of the University, Ms. Eda J. Opina, discussed the proper way to write business letters, memoranda and agenda/minutes of meeting. Ms. Asaldo emphasized that "Administrative personnel should highly regard themselves because their role is of great importance as they are shouldered with the responsibility of helping and assisting the managers of the University."
Participants played a big part in the successful conduct of the activity. Their hunger for new learning, techniques and strategies to enhance their soft skills and how to manage the university records was revealed during the active interaction with the Speakers. They re-discovered their value to the organization and re-affirmed their commitment to support the goals and thrust of the university.
Ms. Lucila Bacalla and Mr. Bonifacio Reoma, on behalf of the participants, thanked the Administration for this rare chance to be part of this event. "We learned a lot of new things today, and hoped for more capability-building activities like this in the future," they said. In his closing address, Dr. Valerio B. Cabalo, VP for Administration and Finance, sets out a challenge for them, "I would expect transformation from all of you, a change in attitude towards work, towards dealing with peers and clients and hopefully, when you go back to your respective offices, you will apply what you have learned from this seminar." Smiles of affirmation were reflected from the faces of the participants.
Ideally, 100% sweeping change in attitude and performance of each personnel is desired, however, with the reality that every organization is composed of diverse personalities, even if only 1 out of the 27 becomes a catalyst of change and truly contributes to the University's over-all performance, THEN, this seminar will be a success.
