SLSU ATTENDS ISO 9001:2008 SEMINAR-WORKSHOP
With utmost desire to render quality service to its clientele and to know the importance of documenting Quality Management System, SLSU top management headed by the University President Dr. Gloria M. Reyes availed the expertise of Ms. Cynthia R. Ramirez, an ISO Consultant and Trainer. Ms. Ramirez was invited to conduct a 6-day seminar/workshop on October 1-6, 2013 from 8:00 in the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon.
In attendance were the University President herself, the Campus Administrator of the four external campuses of SLSU, namely: Ms. Mabel R. Calva (Bontoc Campus), Dr. Lilibeth S. Tindugan (Tomas Oppus Campus), Dr. Eden Garces (San Juan Campus), and Dr. Antonio Remojo (HInunangan Campus). Deans, Department Heads, Unit Heads and other selected personnel together with the Vice President for Administration and Finance and Vice President for Academic Affairs also attended the seminar-workshop.
After several workshops and brainstorming, the attendees were able to identify a brilliant scope to come up with a Quality Manual, Quality Objectives and Procedures. A statement in one of the group outputs during the workshop was “a commitment to consistently render excellent service based on core values of competence, commitment and spirituality through common vision and shared responsibility” in order to become a global leader in higher education anchored with the applicable statutory, regulatory policies and international standard through ISO 9001:2008.
With this undertaking, SLSU is enhancing the competence and competitiveness of its human resources through Quality Management System. It is now in the process of undergoing a make-over to improve its services geared towards becoming a globally-competitive institution through value-added instruction and professional services delivered on a timely manner.
