RDEEA, HRMO Conduct GAD Training
Themed “Coping mechanism for climate change and education for sustainable development,” the offices of the VP and HRMO of Southern Leyte State University joined hand-in-hand in spearheading training on Gender and Development (GAD) on September 18, at SLSU Conference Room.
Aiming to boost the participants’ knowledge on gender, development and climate change, dignitaries had been invited to lead the discussion of the relevant topics. The Curriculum Officer of SLSU-Main, Ms. Nelfa C. Gil, discussed about the basic concept on gender and development; while the VP for RDEEA, Dr. Prose Ivy Yepes, talked about the role of gender and education for sustainable development. They further emphasized how development could be achieved through the merging of gender and education.
Moreover, SLSU was so privileged to have Dir. Lysander G. Navales of Civil Service Commission Field Office around. Navales stressed on the related issues and policies on sustainable development and climate change with regards to the CSC GAD. The ORDEx Director of SLSU-Main, Mr. Nestor O. Morales, followed immediately as he deliberated about the integrating GAD issues in RDE on climate change. Lastly, the R & D Unit Head of SLSU-Main, Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, discussed about the impacts of climate change on communities, livelihood and agro-ecological zones. They shared their expertise about the effects of climate change on development.
The training on GAD only proved how dedicated the university is in achieving its goal, not just to be globally competitive, but towards sustainable development.
