SLSU - TO RIES showcases STORIES milestones; Pioneers RIES-MIS System Implementation
Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO), particularly the RIES Office, holds an orientation for the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services Management Information System (RIES-MIS) on September 5, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the SLSU-TO Mini-Theater. The event aims to report the achievements and progress of the office over the past year and to familiarize faculty and staff with the new system designed to enhance the management of research and extension services.
Dr. Mark B. Galdo, Head of the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES), shares inspiring stories about the mapping of the journeys within SLSU-TO’s RIES. His presentation highlights significant progress and future directions for RIES initiatives and showcases the presented, complied, completed, and terminated research and extension papers. The core of the orientation focuses on the RIES-MIS system. Mr. Tamar Meija, Head of RIES-MIS, provides an overview of the system's features and functionalities. Mr. Francis Rey Padao, Director of the University Information Systems and Applications (UISA), and Mr. Jerald Rivera Tomboc, Programmer for RIES-MIS, conducts a detailed navigation tutorial, which ensures attendees are well-equipped to utilize the new system effectively. Mrs. Rujube H. Hermano, Head of Research Operations, presents updates on the revised quality processes for RIES, which emphasizes improvements and how they align with the university’s strategic goals.
The successful orientation marks a significant step towards optimizing SLSU's research, innovation, and extension services through advanced management tools. By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to quality education (SDG 4) and industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9), the RIES-MIS system will enhance efficiency and support the university's commitment to sustainable development.
