SLSU-San Juan Campus kicks off Project SBMPC to enhance cooperative business practices
Southern Leyte State University-San Juan Campus has launched an extension project titled "Strengthening Business Management Principles and Practices towards a more Progressive Cooperative" (Project SBMPC). Initiated under the leadership of Dr. Melvin S. Sarsale, the project began on April 20, 2024, and is currently progressing through its second phase. It aims to empower the Saint Bernard Multipurpose Cooperative with modern business strategies and technological advancements.
Project SBMPC will deliver training in financial literacy, computer literacy, and system enhancement to cooperative officers, employees, and members. The project includes ongoing support and mentorship to ensure the effective implementation of these skills and techniques within the cooperative's operations.
This initiative aligns with the university’s dedication to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by enhancing economic resilience and business practices; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by introducing modern technologies and systems; and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting inclusive economic opportunities.
By advancing business management practices, Project SBMPC aims to transform local cooperatives into dynamic, forward-looking economic entities, thereby fostering sustainable development and community empowerment.
