SLSU-Hinunangan’s Innovative Agricultural Entrepreneurs Shine at Regional Young Farmers Challenge
In a showcase of entrepreneurial spirit and agricultural ingenuity, students from Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) - Hinunangan are making names for their outstanding performance at the Regional Search for Outstanding Business Models for The Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Intercollegiate Category.
On October 27, 2023, at the newly inaugurated Department of Agriculture (DA) building atop Kanhuraw Hill in Tacloban City, Leyte, the future of agriculture took center stage. Bevelaica Burila and Dana Bago-od, both Agriculture students, partnered with Ma. Cristina Cristina Gajusta, a dedicated Agribusiness student, presented their visionary business plan – "SLSU-Massage-Wellnx."
With the invaluable guidance from their Agri-Sci Technology Instructor, Miss Meryl Capapas, this groundbreaking concept introduces a massage rub infused with locally sourced aromas and scents, offering a sensory ride that celebrates the rich resources abundant in the region.
Their success resonates beyond personal achievement, as it underscores SLSU-Hinunangan’s commitment to preparing students with essential skills for the production, processing, and marketing of agricultural products. It's not just a win for these bright young minds but a testament to the dedication and mentorship provided by the Department of Agricultural Science and Technology and the Department of Agribusiness at SLSU.
This success is a proof to the continued support and expertise of the faculty in these departments who tirelessly forward excellence in education and hands-on experience for their students. As these budding entrepreneurs continue to shine, the future of agriculture in Southern Leyte looks brighter than ever.
