Tomas Oppus Campus Students represents Southern Leyte State U to Parol Making Contest: Celebrating Remarkable Talent
It is with immense pride and joy that we announce that four Mighty Kingfishers from the Tomas Oppus Campus will bre representing our University to the highly anticipated Parol Making Contest: Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin. This prestigious honor reflects the exceptional talents within our institution.
Under the theme, Traditions and Innovations, four creative students, namely, Jaycee C. Valde (2nd year, BPED); Brent Daniel D. Lim (LHS Grade 12 STEM); Sean Christian Y. Manabat (2nd year, BSED- Social Studies); and Leo N. Carpio (1st year, BSED-Filipino) were entrusted with the creation of the said Parol. They will embark on a creative journey to blend the timeless traditions of Parol making with innovative and contemporary elements. Their parol masterpiece will stand as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines and the creative spirit of the younger generation. Their inspiration in the making of the Parol was drawn from the Southern Leyteño's common ways of living, which include the use of bamboo and "amakan," hoping that it would also represent the province's culture.
Currently, their Parol is already being dispayed in the halls of the Malacañang Palace.
In acknowledging the outstanding achievements of our students, Mr. Rey Guinoo, a Social Studies Teacher at the Tomas Oppus Campus, is also recognized for guiding and inspiring them and playing a pivotal role in nurturing the talents and creativity of Jaycee, Brent, Sean, and Leo. His guidance and expertise have undoubtedly contributed to the success of these remarkable students and the entire Southern Leyte State U community. The SLSU community stands united in celebrating this moment of honor and looking forward to the brilliant display of talent.
