Southern Leyte State U still ISO 9001:2015 certified
A team of SOCOTEC auditors conducted an ISO 9001:2015 2nd Surveillance Audit Visit on Southern Leyte State U last September 25-27, 2023. The SOCOTEC auditing team consisted of Mark Anthony Ilagan, Lead Auditor; Maria Fatima Mercurio, Support Auditor; Mike Matundan, Technical Expert; and Allan Balbarino, Observer.
An ISO surveillance audit, or the International Organization for Standardization, is a periodic assessment conducted by certification bodies to ensure that organizations maintain compliance with ISO standards. These audits help verify that the management system remains effective and aligned with the standard’s requirements, allowing organizations to continue benefiting from their ISO certification.
The first to be audited by Mr. Ilagan was the Extension Services, Guidance, followed by the Procurement, Property, and Supply Services. On the second day, Ms. Mercurio audited the Criminology Department. On the morning of the third day, the evaluation of the documented quality management system, including the policies, procedures, work instructions, records, and relevant documented information, continued. Interviews were conducted with the Document Controller, Internal Audit, and Management Review Committees. Meanwhile, Mr. Matundan and Mr. Balbarino, two members of the auditing team, went ahead to SLSU-Maasin City Campus for an audit visit on one of the undergraduate programs, Laboratory, Library, and Curriculum Design on the first day and to SLSU Tomas Oppus Campus on the second day for an audit visit on one of the undergraduate program, Laboratory, Library, Curriculum Design, Registrar, Engineering, Planning and Facilities and Maintenance of the said campus.
During the afternoon of the third day, key officials, Deans, Directors, and employees of different campuses of SLSU attended the closing meeting. Mr. Ilagan, the Lead Auditor, presented the summary of the audit findings, which included Positive Feedback, Observations, Recommendations, Opportunities for Improvement, and Minor Non-Conformities. In addition, the auditors confirmed that no major non-conformities were identified during the surveillance audit.
Mr. Ilagan congratulated SLSU for still attaining the certification of ISO 9001:2015.
