Hinunangan Campus holds inauguration ceremony for new Academic Building, Student Welfare and Development Center
Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus has now a more space with the inauguration of a new Academic Building, and Student Welfare and Development Center on June 13, 2023 to improve its services and provide additional space for the campus.
These projects, with a combined budget of 73 million pesos, have been two years in the making, signaling a bold investment in the future of education for the Mighty Kingfishers attending in the campus.
The new Academic Complex-1 Building represents the university's dedication to academic excellence. It has modern classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities that promote innovation and inspire students.
With a budget of 50 million pesos, it sets a high standard for educational infrastructure that offers a conducive environment for transformative learning experiences both for faculty and students alike.
Further, the opening of the Student Welfare and Development Center demonstrates the commitment of the campus to supporting students.
With an investment of 23 million pesos, the center offers a wide range of services to help students succeed academically, mentally, and emotionally. It includes counseling, career guidance, healthcare, and sports facilities.
The Student Welfare and Development Center provides a safe space for students and ultimately make them well-rounded and ready to make a positive impact on society.
Campus Director Mr. Wade C. Lim attended the inauguration ceremony to show their dedication to improving education at Hinunangan Campus.
"I am deeply satisfied and grateful for the completion of these transformative projects. The tireless efforts of our faculty, staff, and students have played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. These cutting-edge facilities will provide immense opportunities, empowering our students to excel and succeed in their academic pursuit," Mr. Lim said.
Additionally, College Dean Dr. John Paul R. Gapasin emphasized the significant impact of these newly opened buildings on the future of Hinunangan Campus.
Dr. Gapasin expressed his pride in the institution's ability to create a supportive environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and overall development.
University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte and the 2nd District Representative of Southern Leyte Congressman Christopherson M. Yap also graced the ceremony.
"With these new buildings, SLSU-Hinunangan is now able to host university-wide events, agricultural fairs and trade exhibits, conferences, and public fora. While we utilize them for student support services, we can also complement research and innovation capability of Hinunangan Campus and serve smallholder farmers by providing them with new technology and innovation," Dr. Duarte said.
On February 10, 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for the constructions and rehabilitation of these buildings.
