Southern Leyte State U names Jude Duarte 4th University President

The Southern Leyte State University Board of Regents has installed Dr. Jude A. Duarte as the fourth University President.

Dr. Duarte immediately took oath after the special board meeting on Monday, January 23, 2023, before Commissioner Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag, Chairperson of the university's governing board, at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office in Manila.

With his vision to make Southern Leyte State U "a university of the future defined by competitiveness and resilience", Dr. Duarte recently served as the University President at Leyte Normal University from March 2013 to March 2021.

Before he got into LNU, Dr. Duarte was a former employee of Southern Leyte State U and was appointed to several higher positions such as Officer-In-Charge of the then Tomas Oppus Normal College, now SLSU-Tomas Oppus Campus, Dean of the Graduate School, Campus Administrator of Bontoc and Tomas Oppus Campuses, and Vice President for Administration and Finance.

His term as University President will start on Tuesday, January 24.

Dr. Duarte succeeds former University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes as the steward of Southern Leyte State U.
