Bontoc Campus, LGU-Bontoc forge partnership to maximize scientific, technology-based policies, food security
Southern Leyte State University-Bontoc Campus and the Local Government Unit of Bontoc inked a Memorandum of Agreement to establish a partnership on maximizing scientific and technology-based policies and ensuring food security on Monday, November 21.
The University President, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, and the Bontoc Municipal Mayor, Hon. Noel Alinsub, agreed that Bontoc Campus is permitted to use the said program's results for research and extension publication, thereby prioritizing science and technology-based policy and ensuring food security for the citizens in Bontoc.
This long-awaited partnership between College of Aquatic and Applied Life Sciences (CAALS) of Bontoc Campus and LGU-Bontoc will pave the way for the development and implementation of sustainable Agri-fishery programs, projects, and activities (PPAs), including training in trade, fishery, agriculture, information technology, and marine science, to maximize the economic and social benefits for the people, particularly in the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Present during the MOA signing were Dr. Dewoowoogen Baclayon, Bontoc Campus Director; Dr. Benjamin C. Bagadion, former DENR Undersecretary; Dr. Gen Gerona, Bontoc Sangguniang Bayan members, and the faculty and staff of Bontoc Campus.
