Alumni, Student regents take oath as members of Southern Leyte State U BOR

Southern Leyte State University Board of Regents (BOR) welcomes its new members representing the University's Federation of Alumni Associations (SLSU-FAA) and the Federation of the Supreme Student Councils (FSSC).

Dr. Annnabelle M. Hufalar and Joshua E. Orais took oath as Alumni Regent and Student Regent, respectively, before the BOR Chairperson and CHED Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag on September 29, 2022 at Biliran Province State University during the call for the special board meeting.

Dr. Hufalar is currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs who was elected as the new SLSU-FAA President on September 23. She precedes the former SLSU-FAA President and Alumni Regent Samuel L. Seron.

As the new Alumni Regent, Dr. Hufalar targets to promote awareness of alumni concerns among the members of the BOR. Likewise, she shall be in one with the other members of board in advancing the mission and vision of the University, and participate in the decision-making to ensure that the alumni is represented.

Joshua Orais taking oath before the CHED Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag as the new Student Regent

Meanwhile, Orais, a junior Secondary Education student of Southern Leyte State U-Tomas Oppus Campus, now sits as the newly installed Student Regent. He precedes former FSSC President and Student Regent Noreen M. Elmundo.

Orais was selected by his fellow student council officers from the six campuses of the University. The election took place on September 12, 2022 and took oath as the new FSSC President, along with the other officers, on September 26, administered by the University President and BOR Vice Chairperson Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes.

As a member of the BOR, Orais aims to uphold and defend students’ rights, represent the students’ collective stand in governance and policy-making in the University, and maintain linkages with students in every Southern Leyte State U campus.

Both Dr. Hufalar and Orais sworn to fulfill their respective duties and responsibilities with integrity, honesty, sincerity, humility, and commitment as BOR members.
