Southern Leyte State U forges partnership with WCC for instruction, research, extension, production
For boundless opportunities in instruction, research, extension, and production, the Southern Leyte State University, along with seven (7) other state universities and colleges (SUCs) from other regions in the country forged a lasting partnership with World Citi Colleges (WCC) and WCC Aeronautical and Technological College in Pangasinan.
Southern Leyte State U President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. Raymond Patrick Guicom, President of WCC. Alongside Dr. Yepes are Dr. Shirley Agrupis of Mariano Marcos State University, President Voltaire Arzadon of Universidad de Dagupan, Dr. Raul Muyong of Iloilo Science and Technology University, Dr. Arnold Velasco of Tarlac State University, Tarlac Agricultural University’s Director for External Linkages and International Affairs Dr. Christine Ferrer, and Dr. Joselito Villaruz of West Visayas State University.
Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla of the Commission on Higher Education also graced the said activity.
In an interview, Dr. Yepes emphasized that partnerships shouldn't just be created in a regional level but rather outside of the region to form even stronger partnerships with other SUCs in the country.
"SUCs, like our respective institutions, are builders but what we build is not a given. Put simply, thoughtful collaborations between SUCs in the country provide the critical infrastructure to solve societal challenges in the best way possible together", Dr. Yepes added.
The consortium emphasizes the importance of healthy competition for an efficient and effective institutional culture. It is also vital in shaping current affairs and for future engagements.
The university’s inclusion to the consortium is in line with the university’s goal which is to increase linkages and collaborative ventures with national and international organizations.
