Southern Leyte State U formally opens PH Cultural Appreciation class for foreign students
The Center for Foreign Language and Culture of Southern Leyte State University now offers a short-term course for PH cultural education online.
On May 6, 2022, an orientation was conducted for the student-participants coming from the different universities in Taiwan, Vietnam, India, and even the Philippines.
The External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) offers such a program for international students to gain valuable insight into the Philippines. This will give foreign students a head start in their preparation to become international students studying in the Philippines while they learn, understand, and participate in a mutual understanding of the Philippines' culture, customs, and traditions through cultural appreciation.
Further, the Cultural Education course is an opportunity to promote Southern Leyte State U’s other curricular program offerings, as well as potential international collaboration and linkages.
Through this activity, Southern Leyte State U will continue to build an international endeavor to promote Philippines’ cultural awareness through learning history, arts, language and culture, and to strengthen international partnerships and linkages.
This 8-day session, which will start on May 10 will have Dr. Romulo Lanugan, Mr. Enrique Balili, Ms. Haidelyn Jacobe, Dr. Dinah Catamco, and Dr. Mark Galdo as the lecturers who will discuss the Philippine’s geography and history, cultural diversity, and the Filipino language.
The closing ceremony is set on May 20, 2022 where the students will graduate from the course.
