Hinunangan Campus conducts skills enhancement training, workshop for HNHS teachers
Through the Information Technology (IT) department, Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus responded to the request of Hinunangan National Highschool (HNHS) to provide skills enhancement training and workshop in the utilization of the different platforms for distance learning and in crafting audio-video lessons to capacitate the expected 50 teacher-participants.
On April 4, 2022, held at HNHS campus, led by Mr. Mondani R. Manun-og of SLSU-Hinunangan, the Training Workshop on the Utilization of Different Platforms and Software Application for Learning Delivery in the New Normal was conducted for the high school teachers. In addition, so lecturers could adjust their pace, a need-based assessment was conducted to properly identify the participants' level of knowledge and skills regarding the different platforms and applications covered in the training workshop.
Through this extension project, beneficiaries would no longer have to spend more money to acquire the knowledge and skills that are useful and applicable in the new normal modalities of teaching and learning delivery of their respective work while also promoting equal chances for men and women teachers to capacitate and equip themselves in the needed skills to be acquired and developed in the different platforms and application software utilized in the delivery of learning.
In response to COVID-19 and its effect, the Department of Education (DepEd) accelerated its computerization program including the exploration of digital learning mode of education delivery. From the school year 2021 to 2022, modalities have been suggested and introduced which include distance learning (modular and online distance learning), blended learning, and homeschooling.
The Hinunangan Campus understands this request as a vital opportunity as it contributes to sustainable development goals on partnering goals, quality education, and gender equality since linkages have been established, teachers are capacitated and equipped with the needed skills, and both female and male expected participants are given equal opportunity to be trained and acquired the needed skills which help addresses the global challenges facing the international community.
Subject to the availability of resources and with consideration of the economic status of the learners, the Regional Memorandum No. 564, s. 2020, lobbied advised to adopt other learning modalities to supplement the modular approach being implemented by DepEd Region VIII. Consequently, as education migrates to a new normal, teachers make necessary preparations to equip themselves with distance learning and be trained in the use of technology for learning delivery.
